i got a question about the siemens vdo monochrome nav system as provided in the 206 406 and 607
does the map cd contain firmware files?
because by saying goes when you use a new map cd the system could be updated and older map cd's with perhaps different map format won't work no more.
 
second i updated a system a while ago witch didnt had dutch language on it and now with  the last 06/07 map cd it has dutch menu's and spoken directions. so i think it does has firmware files on the mapcd
 
perhaps E111111 could give me a final answer?

when u introduce the maps cd, the reader dont take it? For the firmware : if ur navteq system is a 5.X version, not possible to upgrade to 6.X version. But the last maps cd must be read.

the OS as you mentioned is for the RT3 systems
 
afaik theirs no separated OS cd's for the siemens VDO systems.

i cant help you sorry.

for the VDO systems, you have all language on the map CD. You make a choise about language with the car system and you can used a new map 06/07 ans take an old one after without problems. I've gote map of France 06/07 ans GB 03 and I can used each of them when I want.
