Nope, no hardware change! Im 100% sure, because I was there when the update was installed.

My Citroen service point did it today, so I think this is an official update, and every service point can do it.

Hey Guys, GOOD NEWS. :bounce: I just updated my SMEG+ from 4.x to 5.2 - so the Update is now possible. But do not do it your self! Because the car settings have to be set again online from Citroen. After my update, GPS did not work, and Citroen had to recode the car over remote maintenance...
