406 1.8 16V poor accelerate - sorry I do not speek France

Hy,
I have got a Peugeot 406 1.8 16v 1998, 75000km, ECU SAGEM
My problem:
I am starting driving normaly, and than when change a gear from first to second my car hestitate and loosing a power for abiut 1-2 sec, and go normal, and than the same beatween 2'st and 3'th gear but smaller hestitate.
If I drive normal and than press pedal to accelerate nothing happens for about 1-2 sec and than accelerate.
I' ve read a lot of forum and didn't find people with the same problem. But I've met a guy with the same problem and I try his car, and everything was the same like in my car..... So I can't understand whay nobody is writting about this problem when it is often for this model.


There is no cod detect on my board, mechanical diagnostic tool didn't find any mistakes. Thay say that my clutch is OK.......

Do you have this problem?
Please help me you are my last hope !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

I have a similar problem with my car (2.2 16v). I changed the accelerator sensor but it doesn't improve the working of car !!! I think it's an electronical problem... Just a problem due to a sensor but which sensor ??? I don't know how I can identify it...

For your information, this problem was resolved during 1 week after the replacement of velocity sensor but it's reappear

If somebody have a solution, I'm interrested...

Which one sensor are you change:
Vehicle speed sensor or engine speed sensor (crankshaft position sensor)???

could it just be a dirty air filter and some overfuelleing ?

I just had the same kind of proble on my motorbike (when I accelerated I had something like turbo-lag ...) and finally the mechanic discovered that the choke mechanism AND both chokes were dead. I know that on the 406 it is fuel injection, but I suppose something can also go wrong there ?
The only sign I had was a bad smell of petrol and terrible fuel economy. Do you have these symptoms ?

Anyway, 2 chokes later my bike goes fine again ...

Thanks for response, but I have not problem with fuel consumation, it's 11L/100km......it's seems to me fine for ''town drive''........
I suspect on some sensor but wich one???
If somebody have solution, please.............

Hi,

It's the sensor which is on the gearbox (it gives the vehicle spped).
I know there is an update of motor calculator to do for my car (This update is dated of february 2006...). I hope that change it !!!

Ok ADAM... Thanks !!! Regarding my car, I talked about this ECU. PEUGEOT must do an update of it... this update was dated the 02 of February 2006... It seems it is due to an injection bug !!!

It is normale, the motor is different. In my car, it's the 2.2 16V and programs are different I think. I told you if this update improve my car.
